Digital Membership Cards By Themselves
Did you know that in 1693, in England, decks of playing cards were produced that featured instructions on how to butcher certain animals to get certain cuts of meat? These cards came alongside a small booklet full of instructions; each card featured detailed diagrams of how to perform specific cuts.
The idea behind these cards was to help teach young men a trade, thereby enabling them to better their prospects in the future.
Cards have been helping humans organise themselves better and more efficiently for a very long time. Today, of course, we aren’t talking about playing cards but digital membership cards. Which if you were so inclined could also include images of cuts of meat. I mean, who doesn’t want a digital membership card with a picture of how to butcher a chicken on it?
Today, we will discuss the digital membership cards provided by Member Jungle, how they work, what they can do, and all their benefits for your organisation, whether it be a club, an association, or a business.
Very, very quickly, let me explain Member Jungle and our experience with this. Member Jungle makes membership management systems to make running your club or association easier and more efficient. As part of that, we provide our customers with customisable digital membership cards. These cards have unique barcodes and QR codes, are scannable with POS systems, can be added to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, allow easy member check-in and a whole lot more.
Well, as of now, our digital membership cards are available by themselves. You will no longer need to sign up for our whole membership system to get them. Of course, the digital membership cards will stay part of the main Member Jungle system, too.
What Are The Benefits Of Digital Membership Cards
Digital membership cards aren't just a modern convenience; they're a powerful tool to enhance your club's operations and create a more engaging experience for members. Imagine streamlined member check-ins at events, instant updates to member details, no need for pricey prints and re-prints and targeted communication directly to their phones. And, of course, try as you might; you can't lose a digital membership card even if you lose your whole phone. It will just be ready and waiting for your new phone.
Digital membership cards offer the same benefits as traditional plastic cards but have a lot of bonus positives, including:
- They are cheaper than printed cards
- They save time
- Can be distributed via email (no need to post them)
- Automatically updated at renewal for up-to-date expiry dates
- Easily Accessible by Members
- No printing or postage costs

What Member Jungle’s Digital Membership Cards Cost
Our digital membership cards come in three different packages: the Starter Package, the Elite Package and the Elite Plus Package. The Starter package costs $109 AUD per month, the Elite Package costs $199 per month, and the Elite Plus Package costs $539 per month. This is payable monthly or yearly, though you will get a 10% discount if you pay yearly.
So, what’s the difference between the Starter and Elite packages? Besides the fact that one of them has a much cooler name than the other.
The more expensive the package, the more features it has. With each package having more features, more included members, more monthly emails, and a lower platform fee for online transactions, than its cheaper alternative. The two Elite packages also come with a more powerful custom member import.
If you have more members than either of these packages allows, please Contact Our Sales team, and they will be able to help customise a package that suits your needs.

How Do Member Jungle’s Digital Membership Cards Work With Your Existing System?
As I’ve already mentioned, Member Jungle has its own membership database and all-in-one membership management system, including online payments, automated renewals, and an online member database. However, suppose you already have a membership management system or CRM and aren’t looking for that big of a change. In that case, you may be wondering how the Member Jungle digital membership cards will integrate with your existing system. So, let me explain.
First, our digital membership cards come with a cloud-based membership system. The system automatically generates digital membership cards for all the members you enter, complete with expiry date, name, member level, and unique QR code or barcode.
In order to do this, you are going to need to get your current membership data from your existing system into your new Member Jungle one so that it can generate your new membership cards. You can simply import member data from your current membership database or CRM system. Once this data is imported, the system will generate your membership cards. You can update the database anytime by importing your current data and running comparison reports to ensure consistency across both systems. Depending on how often you have new members joining your club, you could do this at the end of each week or month just to ensure that your digital membership card database stays up to date as members join and leave your club.
As long as you keep your Member Jungle digital membership card database updated, your members can always access accurate and up-to-date digital membership cards.
The Benefits Of Using Member Jungle’s Digital Membership Cards
Digital membership cards are much, much cheaper than traditional plastic cards. Plastic membership card printing costs vary depending on the company, design options, and extras like QR codes and barcodes. Most companies charge between $3 and $5 per card, but if you want all the features of a digital card, the price could go higher. Additionally, we have to factor in the cost of shipping the cards to your members.
So, let's assume it costs $5 per plastic member card. I found a pack of 500 envelopes at Officeworks for $24, making each envelope worth 4 cents. Australia Post currently charges $1.50 to send a small envelope. Printing and posting membership cards will cost approximately $6.54 per card. Multiply $6.54 by the number of members you have to estimate the total cost of plastic cards. For instance, a club with 500 members would spend about $3,270 per year on sending out new plastic membership cards, not including the cost of replacing lost or damaged cards.
Plus, that's $3,270 each and every year, which is (and there's no other way to describe this) an utter boondoggle.
For comparison with Member Jungle, getting digital membership cards for a club of 500 would cost $1,308 per year, which is less than 40% of the cost of printing your cards on plastic. This is before we take into account the labour involved in posting out all those cards and the cost of replacing lost and damaged ones throughout the year.
Can Be Used With Any Membership System
One benefit of using Member Jungle’s digital membership cards is that they can be used with any membership management system or CRM or on their own without any other system in place. This allows you to gain the benefits of digital membership cards, no matter whether you are using our system, one of our competitors’ systems, or a dusty old notebook to run your club.
Speaking of those extra benefits, let’s briefly discuss the benefits of Member Jungle’s digital membership cards beyond their ability to be used with any system.
Easy Member Check-In
The free Member Jungle app, which will be integrated into your system, has an inbuilt scanner that can scan the QR codes and barcodes on digital membership cards. This will allow you to record attendance simply by scanning members' digital membership cards upon entry. When using the full Member Jungle system rather than just the cards and app, you can organise, sell, and validate event tickets through the system and fully break down and examine event attendance and success after the fact.
Plus, the cards can be displayed on smartwatches, giving you members even more ways to display their cards for easy event check in.
You can find out more about this by reading Easy Member Check-In Software For Your Club.
Scan Your Digital Membership Cards With POS Systems
The digital membership cards are also scannable with some POS systems, allowing you to use them to help track member discounts and rewards. They can be used to give members discounts on purchases or to track how often they buy things, like a virtual loyalty card.
For more on this, check out Digital Membership Cards, POS Systems and Your Licensed Club.
Email Campaigns To Members
The Starter, Elite and Elite Plus packages include a certain number of monthly marketing emails for you to schedule and send to your members. The Starter package includes 2,000 emails per month, the Elite package includes 5,000 per month, and the Elite Plus includes 30,000 per month. If you need more, you can pay extra to have additional emails added for that month.
Email campaigns are an effective way to communicate with and keep in touch with your members. They can be used to notify members of upcoming renewals and events, and to encourage them to download the Member Jungle app and start using their new digital membership cards.
