How To Create Membership Cards For Your Club Or Association
One of the many benefits of being in a club is the sense of belonging that comes along with it. Humans are pack animals, and we are instinctively tribal when we have a cause, logo, or flag to unite behind. It's part of the reason we go so wild for sports teams; they play into this tribalistic instinct we all have; we just can't help but fall in love with them.
While less dramatic, clubs and associations also affect people; they give them something to unite behind and feel loyal to. One great way of developing this passionate loyalty within your club is with digital membership cards. Digital membership cards play a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging and identity within your club or association. They are a lovely reminder of the bond your members have. They also serve as practical tools for event check-ins, tracking member benefits, and promoting your organisation.
Whether you are a small community group or a large professional association, understanding how to design and implement effective membership cards can greatly enhance your operations, member experience and membership renewal rates. With that in mind, let's explore the process of creating digital membership cards with Member Jungle that are both functional and visually appealing.
Creating Custom Digital Membership Cards With Member Jungle
Member Jungle offers its custom digital membership part as a free part of our membership management system or by themselves for an additional fee. No matter which route you take, you have a variety of free and paid customisation options open to you. These options are:
- Standard Designed
- Custom Designed
- Custom Configured
So, let’s look at what each of these different levels of customisation get you and what each cost.
Please bear in mind that all the prices I quote for the rest of this article will be in Australian dollars and are correct as of publication. They may have changed by the time you read this. To check the current pricing, please see:
Custom Membership Cards For Your Club: Standard Design
Standard Designed digital membership cards are the base option at Member Jungle and do not cost anything extra. They are the way your cards will be set up by default.
With standard membership cards, you can customise the logo and header image colour for free whenever you want. This means that you can set up your logo and main colour however you want but change it for free whenever the mood takes you.
Standard digital membership cards will also display the following fields on the card:
- Member Name
- Member Number
- Membership Type/Level
- Member Expiry Date
These fields will automatically update if and when a member’s details change. This means that if a member’s expiry date changes or they move to a different membership level, their membership card will automatically change to match as soon as their details change in your system. This means no reordering and reprinting new cards every year.
Customisable Membership Cards For Your Club: Custom Designed
Custom Designed digital membership cards have all the same features as your standard cards, except they have been custom-designed by a professional to your specifications.
The only part of the design that can't be changed is the white bar in the middle that holds the member details; everything else can be fully customised to your heart's desire. Plus, the white bar doesn't actually have to be white; it just has to say in that location.
Below is an example of a Custom Designed card in action at the Toyota Car Club Of Australia.
With Custom Designed membership cards, our professional designer can arrange your card’s layout, colours, background image, and logo exactly how you would like. You can even add sponsors’ logos to the card if you want. The Custom Designed cards can display all the same custom and dynamic fields and member information as the standard cards.
Honestly, the possibilities are basically endless. I played around to see what I could do with the card designs and managed to create a pretty decent digital membership card for a coffee shop.
Just imagine how good that would look if I had a professional design it. Your imagination is pretty much the limit.
Custom Designed membership cards are an additional expense, with a one-time fee of $599 AUD. However, the cost is nothing compared to the savings from switching from plastic cards that require reprints and postage at least once a year.
Custom Digital Membership Cards For Your Club: Custom Configured
The final type of digital membership card is the Custom Configured card. While the visual layout of these cards is less customisable than the Custom Designed cards, they are by far the most powerful and adaptable.
These cards are designed to contain Custom Fields. This means that any six pieces of members’ information that you track via your membership management system can be dynamically displayed on these cards. So, just like the other cards, they can display members’ names, member numbers, etc. They can also display literally any other metric you track via your system, from member location to age to members' companies, qualifications, etc.
These Custom Configured cards can contain six custom fields or four custom fields and the member’s profile picture. Making them perfect for clubs and associations who want to use their membership cards as a more formal kind of ID.
Custom-configured digital membership cards are priced based on membership levels. The initial membership level costs a one-time fee of $999, while subsequent levels cost $399 each. These cards are tailored for clubs and associations with specific requirements regarding the information displayed on their digital membership cards. As long as this information is tracked by your central Member Jungle system, the cards will be updated automatically whenever members' details change.
Both Custom-Configured and Custom-Designed membership cards can be further customised per membership level. This means you can have different layouts and colours for different membership levels. The Custom-Configured cards can contain different fields per member level, allowing you to track whatever fields you need for your different membership levels. For example, a sailing club with social members and sailing members would be able to add a ship registration or ship name field to the digital membership cards of their sailing members only.
Below is an example of this in action with two different-designed membership cards from Merewether On The Green. One for bowling members and one for social members.
Are Digital Membership Cards The Right Choice For My Club Or Association?
So those are the three different types of customisable digital membership cards that are available through Member Jungle. Digital membership cards are a cheap extremely flexible, and customisable way to get all the benefits of old plastic membership cards without any of the drawbacks.
