What Are Member Jungle’s Service Fees?

Date:

I know that a title like that is sure to invoke yawns and eye rolls from everyone who reads it, and while I can’t deny that service fees aren't exactly the most exciting subject, they are an important one and one we should cover.

So, I’m not going to take up any more of your time than necessary. This article is here for a good time, not a long time. Let’s just cover the things we need to cover, have a little fun along the way and then get out of here.

What Are Service Fees At Member Jungle?

Part of the Member Jungle service is allowing you to take digital payments via your website, whether this be for membership signups, renewals, merch store purchases, courses, or event tickets.

In order to keep Member Jungle affordable for the average club and prevent it from becoming something only very big and very rich associations can afford, we charge a small service fee per online transaction made through our sites. This way, we can afford to keep the lights on and the system affordable for everyone.

Service fees apply to each online transaction conducted through a Member Jungle site. It's important to note that these fees are charged per transaction, not per item. For example, if a member purchases three event tickets in a single transaction, they will only incur one service fee rather than being charged a fee for each individual ticket.

As I mentioned, one of the big reasons we charge service fees is so we can keep our product affordable for everyone and not become some ridiculously expensive hoity-toity brand. I had planned to end this section by making fun of some big fashion brands that charge ridiculous amounts of money for objectively hideous clothes.

However, I found something even worse, fancy fashion brands charging insane amounts of money for clothes that look old and ripped up.

Those shoes, which look like a thrashed-out pair of New Balance sneakers, cost $1,700. The ripped stockings, which look identical to every pair of old ratty supermarket stockings I own, are currently sold out but were selling for $190 USD.

There is something very dystopian about the wealthy paying thousands to cosplay as poor people.

My point is twofold: One, fashion is dumb, and two, Member Jungle is never going to become some bougie brand that only the richest people can afford; we are for all clubs.

How Much Are The Member Jungle Service Fees?

Now we get to the main point of this article, how much the Member Jungle service fees are. So let’s not muck around, and get straight into it.

The Member Jungle service fees are made up of two parts, a variable percentage fee and a fixed amount fee. How much these are depends on which package you sign up for. The more expensive the package, the cheaper the fee.

See the table below for details.

Member Jungle Service Fees

As you can see, the service fees for our cheapest package, the Essential Package, are 1.2% plus $0.69 cents, while the fees for our most expensive package, the Ultimate Package, are 0.5% plus $0.50 cents.

Please note that these fees only apply to online digital payments. If you take cash payments and log them into the system, there will be no service fee.

It's also worth noting that most Member Jungle systems use Stripe's payment gateway, so Stripe charges an additional transaction fee for all transactions.

For our next bit of ridiculously overpriced fashion, because I'm obsessed now, we have this pre-muddied jeans and jean jacket combo.

That’s right. For just under $1,000 USD, you too can look like you fell over in a field. In fact, I have a special offer for anyone considering dropping a grand on this outfit. If you instead send me $500 USD, I will buy you a pair of jeans and a jean jacket, and then I will personally hand-crafted-ly kick you into some artisanal roadside mud. It’d be a steal at half the price.

How Can You Manage The Member Jungle Service Fee?

So, any time a member of yours buys an event ticket, renews their membership or buys a merch item from your online store, a service fee will be charged on that transaction. However, it is up to you how you handle this fee. You can choose to pass this fee on to your members or deduct it from your profits.

Manage The Member Jungle Service Fee

If you pass this fee on to your members, it will be automatically added to the price in their cart at checkout. For example, a $20 ticket would cost $20.87 if you are on the Standard Package.

I can't provide an exact amount for your Stripe fees, as they depend on your location, the type of card used, and any agreements you may have with Stripe. However, based on my best estimation using Member Jungle on the Standard Package, a $20 ticket would total approximately $21.51 for your members.

If they purchase three tickets in one transaction, the fees would increase the total from $60 to about $62.55. Certainly not enough to stop anyone from buying.

If you decide to absorb the fees into your profits, then when you sell a $20 ticket, instead of receiving $20 in funds, you will receive $18.49.

The choice is entirely yours and you can choose a different option for your membership, courses, events and online store. For example, you might absorb the fee for merchandise sales to keep prices attractive while passing the fee on for memberships to offset administrative costs. This granular control allows you to customise your pricing and fee structure to best suit your club's financial model and member preferences.

Before we wrap up for the day, I have one final piece of ridiculous and expensive fashion. This is a piece of home decor sold by a fashion label. The item in question is a sterling silver “tin” can.

Here it is, in all its… glory?

That’s right. For only $1,000 USD, you too can look like you once repurposed a $2 tin of tomatoes without all the effort of opening a tin or cooking a meal.

What Else Do You Need To Know About Member Jungle’s Service Fees?

Well, that’s about it for Member Jungle’s service fees, I hope this has cleared some things up for you, and I hope I didn’t rant about insane rich people fashion for too long because, honestly, I could list 100 insane items I saw while “researching”.
