Why Member Jungle’s Online Training Is Important
Whether you're considering Member Jungle, have just started a free trial, or are in the midst of onboarding, taking advantage of the training resources is crucial. It not only simplifies your experience using the system but also helps you make a more informed decision about whether Member Jungle is the right fit for your club or association.
Training is essential in any field. It guides us on the right path and helps us avoid unnecessary pitfalls. Take my experience at a previous job in a TV station, for example. Part of my role involved converting raw footage from cameramen and sending it to editors.
One day, a new cameraman arrived with footage that needed to be sent to the editors of a travel program. For context, Australia's standard TV broadcast resolution is 1080i, also known as HDTV. This means there are just over two million pixels on the screen per frame. However, this new cameraman had filmed all of his footage in 16k resolution, which equated to a massive 132 million pixels per frame, making it 64 times too big to be aired on TV. For context, the world's first 16K commercially available TV came out in mid-2023, years after this incident. I have no idea how he even managed to film it at such a high resolution. My best guess is witchcraft.
I had to spend an eternity down-converting and compressing this footage before I could send it to the editor. This file was so large that when I tried to open it on my computer, I thought the computer itself would sprout arms and legs so it could throttle the cameraman itself.
The moral here is that I'm sure this cameraman was good at his job and simply wanted to impress, so he filmed in as high quality as he could. However, if he had a bit more training, he'd have known that he didn't need to do the pre-production equivalent of bringing an atom bomb to a pillow fight.
So, now that I've shared a cautionary tale about the importance of training, let's turn to the matter at hand: why Member Jungle's training resources are so crucial for getting the most out of your new system.
Why You Should Do Online Training With Member Jungle
First things first, all Member Jungle training is entirely optional, and you don't have to do it if you really don't want to. However, I'd strongly recommend it as it gives you the best possible start with your new system. The Member Jungle system has been designed by people in clubs for people in clubs. It has been designed to be a simple, easy-to-use system that anyone and everyone can use.
There are people in their twenties who use Member Jungle for their clubs, there are people in their late nineties who use Member Jungle for their clubs, and if it were legal for a toddler to run a club, I'm sure there’d be some sort of business baby out there using Member Jungle too.
Okay, maybe that last one is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the drift; Member Jungle is easy to use.
Even though Member Jungle doesn’t have a steep learning curve, there's still a learning curve, and the best way to deal with this is to go through the training. Just like no matter how skilled a chef you are, when cooking a new recipe for the first time, it's important to have the recipe open for reference to ensure it turns out as well as possible.
So, with the why handled, let’s talk about how you can get training and support from Member Jungle.
The 7 Steps Of Getting Proper Training with Your New Member Jungle System
To learn to use the Member Jungle system, follow these seven steps for proper training. It's important to go through each step in order to get the most effective training experience.
Step 1: The Learning Centre
The Learning Centre is where you are currently reading this article. It is a place where we post a variety of articles designed to be helpful to both current customers and people who are considering using Member Jungle. Generally speaking, I (Piper) write the articles on the Learning Centre, and they tend to be an informative but entertaining (that’s debatable) way to learn about Member Jungle and the wider world of membership management.
You will find a wide range of articles on the Learning Centre that will guide you through the process of learning the Member Jungle system for the first time, as well as how to get more out of your system, even if you are a seasoned user of Member Jungle, and much more.
It is a great first stop on the road to learning more about Member Jungle and how it all works. Three new articles are posted every week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, excluding public holidays. If you want, you can also subscribe to our weekly article updates in order to stay on the cutting edge of Member Jungle and membership management news and tips.
Whether you read every article, subscribe to the updates, or simply check in from time to time, the Learning Centre is a great resource for your membership management journey. While I put this as the first step, the Learning Centre is a great resource to use throughout your training and Member Jungle journey.
Step 2: The Support Portal
The Support Portal is similar to the Learning Centre, but it's more focused on providing how-tos, troubleshooting, and guides. It's essentially a comprehensive library of technical articles to help you navigate through anything and everything related to your Member Jungle system.
You can browse through different categories or use the search bar to quickly find the necessary information and answers.
A few months ago, I set up my own personal website using Member Jungle, and I found the Support Portal to be incredibly useful. If I ever forgot how to do something or needed a refresher on setting up a specific part of my website, I simply searched for it on the Support Portal and easily found a helpful article with a detailed guide on how to do what I needed.
Just like with the Learning Centre, the Support Portal is a resource that you should refer back to regularly. Nine times out of ten, you’ll be able to find the answer to whatever question you have here.
Step 3. Demo Of The System
If you want, you can request that one of the members of the Sales Team catch up with you online so they can give you a live demonstration of the Member Jungle system. This is the perfect opportunity to ask any specific questions you have about how the system works and how it will work for your club in particular.
Every club and association is different, and this is your chance to find out exactly how the system will work for your particular use case. If you want to get a live demo of the system for yourself, you can reach out to sale here.
Step 4. Free 30-Day Member Jungle Trial
The fourth step to gaining a detailed and well-rounded understanding of how Member Jungle works is to set up a commitment-free Member Jungle trial so you can get a hands-on feel for how it all works. The Member Jungle free trial is a completely free, commitment-free way to get your hands on a fully functioning, live and customisable Member Jungle website and system.
Once you are all set up on your trial, you should try setting it up a bit, customising your homepage, making an event, testing out how the member import works, set up a test event. Generally, just play around with the system and see what it can do. You would not believe the number of questions that you’ll get answered by just giving it a go. I’ve worked for Member Jungle for well over a year now, and setting up my own website with the system taught me a whole bunch of things that I hadn’t learned in a year plus of writing about it.

For everything else you need for the trial, see Resources For The Free Trial.
Step 5. Training Videos
The next step in getting all the training you need is to start watching the training videos. Member Jungle offers a wide range of training videos that are freely available to you at any time. They are an excellent resource for learning how to use the system. You can find all the videos on the Member Jungle YouTube page. They cover everything from polished and highly edited how-to guides to 30-minute-plus recordings from live training webinars. You can also access the training videos on the Member Jungle Support Portal instead of YouTube.
While there aren't as many videos as there are articles on the Learning Centre or the Support Portal, there is still a good selection and when it comes to more techy things like this, seeing a recorded demonstration can be super helpful. I cannot tell you how many times I have forgotten how to do some basic thing while editing a video and quickly had to go watch a YouTube video to remember how to do it again.
Step 6. Live Fortnightly Webinars
Every second week, Member Jungle hosts a free Live Webinar that anyone, customer or not, can attend and get their questions answered by a team member. It is worth noting that these Q&A sessions are fair use; anyone can attend and ask any questions they may have. However, it's important not to turn up and bombard everyone with a ton of basic questions that everyone else there will know the answers to. That wouldn't be fair to everyone else in the session.
That's why the webinars are the sixth step; they are not a substitute for reading articles on the Learning Center or the Support Portal. They are there as a little extra to help you if you just haven't been able to work something out properly from the previous five steps. The Live Webinars are a valuable tool that you should definitely utilise to gain a better understanding of how everything works.
Step 7: Free & Paid Training
Once you sign up with Member Jungle, you will get access to both free and paid training options. These training options are the Free One Hour Handover Training as part of the Accelerator Package, Paid 1-on-1 Training and Paid Committee Training. It is worth noting that you could theoretically skip all the previous steps and just do the free or paid training; however, that would be a wasted opportunity. You're better off learning as much as you can via the previous steps and then coming to the training sessions for the more complicated stuff.
It's like teaching your kids how to drive. You're better off spending a whole bunch of time with them behind the wheel, practising in empty car parks and deserted new estates, before sending them off to a driving instructor. That way, you get the most bang for your buck because the driving instructor can teach them more complicated road rules and manoeuvres and not spend your hard-earned money teaching your kid which one's the clutch and which one's the brake.
The same applies here; you can do whatever you want, but to get the best result from your training, it's best to do it after you've done the previous steps.
Support Tickets
The final part to getting all the support you need to use Member Jungle is Support Tickets. Support Tickets aren't for training; they are your last line of defence if you can't figure something out after going through all six of the previous steps.
If you have completed the previous steps, read the material, searched the Support portal, undergone the training, and still can't figure something out, then you can open a Support Ticket. Describe the issue you are having, include any necessary screenshots, and the Member Jungle Support Team will help you solve your issue.
You can find out more about how Support Tickets work by reading The 3 Ways You Can Get Customer Support From Member Jungle.
